C Field45 field-notes on the open web

Field notes & editorial policy

Field45 is an expedition log of the open web — a systematically catalogued directory of 833 active outposts organized across 22 surveyed sectors. The project began as a mapping exercise: rather than relying on algorithm-driven search results, Field45 takes a methodical field research approach, manually verifying each entry before it earns a position in the register.

The 22 sectors in the log were drawn from real-world patterns observed during the survey — from the densely populated Camp Wagers quadrant to the precise Field Permits and Territory Claims sections. Each sector holds outposts relevant to a specific domain of activity, making it possible to navigate by terrain type rather than keyword alone.

Field45 accepts submissions from outpost operators across all sectors. A listing in the register requires an active, reachable site and a relevant category assignment. Submissions are reviewed by expedition staff before a log entry is confirmed. The directory is updated on a rolling basis as new outposts are verified.

Browsing the Field45 log is open to all expedition members at no cost. The register is organized for practical reference rather than promotional purposes — each entry is a verified data point in a living map of the web. We maintain this log as a long-term project, with the expectation that the terrain will continue to change and the register will continue to grow.

For questions about the log, submission review, or sector classification, use the contact details provided on the relevant section pages. Field45 is an independently operated project with no affiliation to the listed outposts beyond their catalogued position in the register.
